WNBA volta para Portland em 2026 como Portland Fire
Portland's WNBA expansion team has officially announced its name and identity: the Portland Fire. The team, set to begin play in 2026, marks the revival of professional women's basketball in a city that calls itself the "global epicenter of women’s sports."
The new brand, created by local agency Adopt, is a modern take on the original franchise, designed to reflect "unapologetic determination and city pride." The visual identity is rich with local symbolism. A "Rose on Fire" emblem serves as the primary icon, merging Portland's iconic flower with the intensity of a flame. The official color palette includes Fire Red, Brown, Blue, and Pink.
Portland Fire Wordmark:
The Portland Fire wordmark is inspired by the 12 bridges that connect the city of Portland.
Portland Fire Icon:
The Rose Icon of the Portland Fire represents the "fire that burns from within and the passion of the City of Portland". Also, the silhouette of Mount Hood adorns the top of the "P" in the P "icon logo".
"As a city that has long championed women’s sports, Portland is ready to reclaim its place in the WNBA," said Clare Hamill, Portland Fire Interim President.

The franchise, awarded in fall 2024 to owners Alex Bhathal and Lisa Bhathal Merage of RAJ Sports, has already seen immense fan support, surpassing 10,000 season ticket deposits.
This ownership group also acquired the NWSL's Portland Thorns earlier in 2024, and has announced plans for a state-of-the-art, dual-sport training facility for both teams. The Portland Fire will tip off their inaugural season in 2026 at the Moda Center.
