BREAKING: Phoenix Mercury laat nieuwe shirts zien voor het WNBA-seizoen 2026

The Phoenix Mercury have officially unveiled their new Heroine and Explorer Edition uniforms, which will make their on-court debut in the 2026 WNBA season. These new designs are part of a comprehensive brand modernization that aims to honor the franchise's rich history while pushing its identity into a new era.

Phoenix Mercury 2026 Heroine Jersey:

The white Phoenix Mercury Heroine Edition jersey features "MERCURY" displayed prominently across the chest. This, along with the player numbers, is rendered in the team's new, exclusive "Mighty Mercury" typeface which is the first time in the franchise's history that the numbers have been in a custom font. Both the wordmark and numbers are outlined in a newly introduced "psychic purple" color. As a tribute to the team's inaugural uniforms, the jersey incorporates colored shoulder straps. The wordmark itself is set on an eight-degree arc, a subtle detail honoring the Mercury's status as one of the WNBA's eight original franchises.

Phoenix Mercury 2026 Explorer uniform:

Following the same design principles, the purple Explorer Edition jersey features "PHOENIX" across the chest in the modern "Mighty Mercury" font, also outlined in psychic purple. The back neckline of both the Heroine and Explorer jerseys includes a commemorative patch displaying a silver trophy and the number three, celebrating the Mercury's three WNBA championships in 2007, 2009, and 2014.

Details:

The shorts are rich with symbolic details. The team's modernized "M" logo is placed on the beltline, while the primary logo is featured on the right back leg. Diagonal lines across the bottom of the shorts represent the orange rings from the global logo, with eight individual lines symbolizing the Mercury's place as an original franchise. These asymmetrical lines are positioned at an angle of 19.97 degrees, referencing the team's inaugural 1997 season and calling back to the iconic shorts worn by the Phoenix Suns in the 1990s.
