Seattle Storm Retire Legendary Sue Bird's No.10 Jersey
Sue Bird, a revered figure in the WNBA, was finally given the well-deserved send-off to her remarkable career on last Sunday as the Seattle Storm retired her iconic No.10 jersey.
Amidst an emotionally charged ceremony that lasted nearly three hours, Bird addressed a packed crowd at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Several prominent figures joined her to pay homage to her 20-year tenure in the league, which concluded last season.
Speaking to reporters, Bird humorously acknowledged the length of her speech, which reportedly lasted over an hour and a half. "I didn't expect it to be that long, but the truth is, I'm not sure if I could have left anything out," she confessed."This occasion holds tremendous significance for me. It was crucial for me to mention names, acknowledge individuals, and express their significance. I'm already contemplating things I wish I had said," Bird added.
Having been the top overall pick in the 2002 WNBA draft, Bird dedicated her entire career to the Seattle Storm. She accumulated four championships, five selections to the All-WNBA first team, and an unprecedented 12 appearances in the All-Star Game.
