Rui Hachimura to Get Kobe Bryant's Retired No. 8 for La Lakers?
A few days ago, the Los Angeles Lakers have traded in Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards for three second-round picks and Kendrick Nunn. Rui Hachimura has worn no.8 for the Wizards and the Japanese NT, a number that has been retired by the Lakers about 5 years ago in honor of Kobe Bryant.
NBA Website Shows Hachimura With No. 8 By Mistake
After the trade happened, Hachimura was shown with no.8 on the roster of the Lakers on the official NBA site. Obviously, Rui won't wear this number since it's retired. It is to be believed that this was an error caused by the fact that Hachimura wore no.8 for the Wizards and the NBA site just took on his number.
After the transfer, someone created a mock-up of Hachimura wearing the No. 8, but this surely did not happen.
Hachimura Becomes Lakers' New No. 28
Yesterday Rui Hachimura had his debut for the franchise wearing no.28, a number that has been worn before by the likes of Quinn Cook or DJ Mbenga.
