Boston Celtics Wear Blue/Yellow Warm-up Jerseys in NBA Playoffs - Here is Why

On Saturday's opening playoff game against the Hawks, the Boston Celtics wore special blue and yellow warmup jerseys with "One Boston" written across the chest, rather than their usual green and white attire. Many fans may be wondering why the team made this change - let us find out why.

The Boston Celtics honored the 10th anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing by wearing blue and yellow warmups with “One Boston” written across the chest for their opening playoff game against the Hawks on Saturday. Instead of their usual green and white warmups, the Celtics chose to commemorate the occasion and pay tribute to the city of Boston.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla explained the decision to wear the “One Boston” warmups, stating that the team has a responsibility to honor those who came before them, not just in sports but in other areas as well. The shirt represents the team’s commitment to making a positive impact, both on and off the court.

As a Rhode Island native, Mazzulla expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to coach in Boston and to represent the city in a positive light. The Celtics also wore their City Edition uniforms, which were created to honor Celtic legend Bill Russell following his passing in July 2022. Celtics star Jaylen Brown also wore shoes with Russell's face and his own for Saturday's game.
