The Boston Celtics 22-23 City Edition jersey has been revealed today. Paying homage to the late Bill Russell, it will be debuted in the NBA Opening Night against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 18, 2022.
Boston Celtics honor the life and legacy of Bill Russell during the 2022-23 season, and with the 2022-2023 City Edition jersey in particular. In addition, the NBA retired Bill Russell's No. 6 throughout the whole NBA.

The Boston Celtics 2022-2023 City Edition jersey has a bespoke design in green, gold, and white. Various details honor Bill Russell.
Celtics Wordmark - Inspired By Slade’s Bar & Grill
The Celtics wordmark on the front of the jersey is written in a script inspired by the historical Boston establishment, Slade’s Bar & Grill. Slade’s was famously owned by Bill Russell in the 1960s.
Side Jersey Detail - 11 Gold Diamonds
Eleven gold diamond icons down both sides of the uniform, signifying the number of Celtics NBA championships Russell won. The diamonds are overlayed on black trim, which features the famed Celtics parquet floor pattern tonally.
Number 6 Short Detail
Russell’s retired #6 is on the belt buckle of the shorts, surrounded by 11 gold diamonds.
The Boston Celtics 2022-2023 City Edition Jersey will be worn a total of 12 games this season, 6 times at home and 6 times on the road. There will be a total of 2 Bill Russell Tribute Games, one against the Philadelphia 76ers on opening night, and the other one on Bill's birthday on February 12th against the Memphis Grizzlies.
