Les Charlotte Hornets vont retirer le maillot numéro 1 de Muggsy Bogues
The Charlotte Hornets have announced that they will officially retire franchise icon Muggsy Bogues' No. 1 jersey. The ceremony will take place during halftime of the Hornets' home game against the Milwaukee Bucks on February 11, 2027, at Spectrum Center, raising his iconic number to the rafters in celebration of his ten-year tenure in the Queen City.
Charlotte Hornets Retire Number 1 Uniform
Standing at 5-foot-3, Bogues remains the shortest player in NBA history, yet his impact on the court and the culture of Charlotte basketball was immense. Selected in the 1988 expansion draft after his rookie year with the Washington Bullets, Bogues spent a decade directing the Hornets' offense from 1988 to 1998, famously donning the franchise's classic teal, purple, and pinstriped uniform. He still sits atop the franchise leaderboards as Charlotte's all-time leader in total assists (5,557), steals (1,067), and minutes played (19,768).
Bogues will become just the third player in Hornets history to have his jersey retired, joining Bobby Phills (No. 13) and longtime teammate Dell Curry (No. 30). Having served the team for over two decades as both a star point guard and a beloved team ambassador, Bogues will see his No. 1 permanently enshrined above the court where his career blossomed.
