Los Lakers se deshacen de la camiseta Nike City Edition
In a rare mid-season uniform change, the Los Angeles Lakers have apparently eliminated their 2024-25 City Edition jerseys from their rotation after experiencing what many fans considered a "curse." Big thanks to Kings Uni Tracker (@SacKings_Unis) for first spotting this.
According to the NBA's LockerVision site, the Lakers are no longer scheduled to wear their purple "Lake Show" jerseys for any remaining games this season.
The Lakers' record in the City Edition uniforms stood at a disappointing 1-9, compared to an impressive 33-12 in their standard Icon and Statement editions. The striking difference in performance created a superstition among fans and seemingly within the organization itself.
The team had originally been scheduled to wear the jerseys six more times this season against Minnesota, New York, Indiana, Houston, Golden State, and Dallas. However, LockerVision now shows the Lakers will only wear their traditional yellow "Icon Edition" or standard purple "Statement Edition" jerseys in those matchups.
This unusual mid-season uniform adjustment began when the Lakers deviated from the scheduled rotation in February, opting against wearing the City Edition jerseys for games against the Knicks and Warriors. They won both games, apparently confirming suspicions about the uniform's negative influence.
No official announcement has been made regarding the decision.
